Urban retreats offer time out to recharge and reconnect with your true nature. The day will consist of fluid movement practices including a Somatic Release, Authentic Movement, Dynamic Meditation, Soul Dance, Improvisation, Bodywork, Contact work and a deep revitalising relaxation to finish.
Soul Dance empowers your intentions, inspires creativity and activates positive emotional states of wellbeing.
Take a movement journey to detox the mind, body and spirit.
Open to everyone – no dance experience needed. One part of the workshop will involve movement on the floor so please bring adequate clothing and warm layers.

Laura Sarah Dowdall is a contemporary dancer, choreographer, somatic movement and healing yoga therapist, wellbeing coach and bio-energetic healing practitioner. This workshop integrates her skills in movement and healing to create an empowering practice that revitalises the energetic creative life force in us all.
Overview of Day Plan:
Day retreats begin with body-mind centering practices, somatic exercises, mindful movement based on Laura’s workshop ‘Practicing Presence’. Afterwards, floorwork inspired by contemporary dance brings alignment, co-ordination and playfulness to the morning session before breaking for lunch.
After lunch, we move into Authentic Movement, Soul Dance* and Improvisation practices that inspire our expression, creativity and connection (inner and outer). The latter part of the retreat introduces bodywork and partner exercises before restorative relaxation and meditation to close.
To benefit from the restorative quality of this retreat day, silence and personal reflection is encouraged during the 75-minute lunch break where you can visit Little Bird Cafe across the street, or any cafes in Portobello as well as enjoy sitting along the canal, which is very closeby.
What to Bring:
Water, Yoga Mat, Warm Blanket for relaxation, Layers of Clothing (as you will shift between active and relaxed states so you will add and remove layers throughout the day), Packed Lunch if you wish or there are cafes closeby.
